Lavender Harvest is underway!

Harvest is underway!

The smell in the air is glorious we start harvest of our purple Lavender fields, and distill the flowers for their precious essential Oil in our onsite distillery.

** HARVESTING UPDATE 2019** We started harvesting on Thursday 18th July, but it takes us over a week to clear all the fields, and the distillery is now running daily. We completed harvest of the large field at the back of the valley on 22nd July. The field with the Lavender Bench and viewing area is now closed, as we started harvesting this field on 30th July. Our final field of Lavandin will be harvested on Saturday 3rd August. Lavender Tours have now finished for 2019.

It’s always a good idea to call and check if you are coming on a specific day late in the season – 01959 523219.

Once the flowers have been cut by our specialist Lavender harvester, they are taken to Castle Farm’s onsite distillery where the oil is extracted by steam distillation.

If you are interested in seeing behind the scenes of the process, we will still be running tours until our last field of Lavender is harvested. Lavender Tours can be booked online for weekday dates, and will be book on arrival at the farm for the last weekend of 27th / 28th July.
