Castle Farm Gift Guide 2019
All year we are busy planning for the festive season… keeping an eye out for the best gifts, decorations and foodie treats. Come November we are so excited to see our visions come to light as beautiful food and gifts for all ages start pouring into the shop.
This week the team have been delving into our shelves and baskets of delights, to choose their favourite gift picks for 2019. Some are even available to buy online from the comfort of your couch, but if you live close by we highly recommend a visit so you can shop to your hearts content under our twinkling festive fairy lights!
Jo (one of our longest standing shop superstars)
I love these kits to make your own Christmas Tree decorations. I think they are such a fun idea for the family to do in the lead up to Christmas – lets the kids go wild with the icing! Super easy – you only need one egg and some imagination – everything else is in the box ready to go!
Lorna (Mum of 4, and the friendly face of Hop Shop social media)
In our Kids Gift Corner this year, all the books we have chosen are about getting kids active and thinking about the outdoors and nature (and start at just £2.99). I’m saving a few of these and totally love the ‘colour and make your own cards’ – complete with folding envelopes and stickers. All tried and tested by the kids on Castle Farm!
Oh… and I can’t go past these beautifully illustrated Bingo and Match-a-Pair games – they are great for children and adults!
CARINE (bringer of french style to the shop team)
These lovely little Gift Tins are a great choice for friends or family and are really easy to wrap and post. My favourites are the ‘Luxury Scents Tin’ and also the ‘Feel Good Tin’ – which has the perfect combination for a relaxing evening – Lavender Bath Oil, a scented candle and Lavender Massage Oil for tired muscles.
Wilfred & Coco (Age 3 & 4 – Chief Apple Juice taste testers)….
Given free-range in the shop, Wilfred has chosen one of these super cute Christmas pens for his older brother, and Coco has chosen some cookies and hot colocate for her little sister.. which comes in a fab little metal tin. (although it was hard to tear them away from the table with chocolate coins and candy canes!)
Farmer William (Grew up on Castle Farm, and up well before 6am every day!)
My pick is this Monmouth Coffee. A brilliant little London coffee roasting house who roast different beans as the seasons change. They only source their coffee from small farms and cooperatives, supporting local communities and ensuring a sustainable relationship. Their coffee shops in London always have a queue out the door.. the sure sign of a decent brew!
Crispin (Farmer and Lavender Shortbread baking expert)
I have chosen this selection of cheese biscuits, local Kentish cheese and pâtés as my gift pick of the season. It’s hard to go past all the beautiful relishes, chutneys and onion marmalades on the shelves, but these ones stood out for me!
Archer (Farm dog!)
Lucky Archer will be enjoying a brand new dog bowl this Christmas – thanks to the adorable designs by Sweet William Designs! They are adorable (and come in smaller sizes for littler dogs too)!
Caroline (The Hop Shop founder & winner of 5 Chelsea Gold Medals!)
These bags are fantastic. I was given one a year ago and it still looks as good as new despite having been in constant use. Sturdy, light, hard-wearing and with a really well thought-out design of zips, straps and pockets, they can be used as handbags, shopping bags or rucksacks and are perfect for travelling. There’s a range of super seasonal colours too – I love this orange one!
Sheena (multi-talented shop star and horse rider in her spare time!)
I have been round the shop and chosen this little selection to make up into a Hamper for a friend. Its a relaxing afternoon hamper – complete with a packet of Lavender Grey Tea, fine bone china mug, Lavender shortbreads and indulgent Lavender dark chocolate! I know she will love it!
Hazel (our Irish bundle of energy behind the scenes – and Mum to 1 year old Adelaide)
Time for some relaxation! These candles have over 30 hours burn time and are made from natural soy wax and the Lavender Oil distilled from our fields… I’m going to be gifting some of these to my Mum friends who I know need a little relaxation and down time in the evenings once the little ones are in bed!
Phil (Shop manager who often walks retired greyhounds before he even arrives in the office each morning!)
These bright colourful biscuit collections are my top pick this year. Painted by Scottish artist Steven Brown, they remind me of the highland cattle by the River Darent in Eynsford. Once the Scottish Shortbread inside have been eaten, the tin can be reused over and over again!
Sandy (trained florist and our Christmas Wreath making expert!)
These little embroidered bags with gold touches and pretty design, make a lovely wash bag – so I have chosen this and a few little toiletries to give to a friend. I went for Castle Farm Lavender Soap, Premium Lavender Oil and relaxing Bath Oil! The best thing is you can choose the mix of products your self – so the choices are endless!
